Manufaturing Technologies
(MECH202)

The objective of the course is to introduce the preliminary concepts of the contemporary manufacturing processes where metal (mainly steel and aluminum) is involved. This course only wishes to give future mechanical engineers basic information about manufacturing. The student will learn how materials are converted into products. A wide variety of options will be described, emphasizing on how each process works and giving the advantages as well as limitations. The language of manufacturing will be an essential aspect of this course opening the way to the factory floor. Some information about manufacturing integrated manufacturing, computer numeric control and automation will be addressed. Finally, the innovative topic of rapid prototyping shall be introduced.
